i '` <br />i _ <br />Geotechnical Investigation <br />^ <br />Proposed Courthouse Square - Salem, Oregon <br />7.5 Inspection and Testing <br />1. All backfill and general fill shall be approved by the Geotechnical Engineer. <br />Placement of all fill and backfill should be observed and tested for relative <br />compaction by a qualified technician working under the direction of the <br />Geotechnical Engineer. A suitable testing frequency would be to test every <br />one foot of fill depth as the material is placed. The owner should notify the <br />Geotechnical Engineer prior to the commencement of filling operations. <br />2. All general excavations and footing excavations shall be inspected and <br />approved by the Geotechnical Engineer or his representative prior to <br />placement of any soil backfill or concrete. <br />8.0 LIMITATIONS <br />Exploratory excavations made for this study were placed to obtain a reasonable picture of <br />underground conditions for design purposes. Boring logs depict conditions only at the specific <br />locations explored. Variations from the conditions, not indicated by the borings, are possible. <br />These variations are sometimes sufficient to necessitate modifications in the design. <br />, <br />If unexpected conditions'are observed during construction, or if the size, type, or location of <br />the structures should change, we should be notified to review our recommendations.
