`+ Y ,,,~ ~
5~~~~
~~ ~~ ~
C~~''
~~
.r ~~~
~~
August 4, 1998
MEMORANDUM
TO: Billy Wasson, Project Manager
Courthouse Square
FROM: Bob McCune,
Facilities Manager
SUBJECT: Centralized Computer Room
Karen Bennett, Senior Technical Support Technician for the Marion/Salem
Data Center, and I met with all the data staff from all of the departments
which will be moving into Courthouse Square. We discussed the proposal of
a centralized computer room located on the fourth floor which would contain
all the fileservers, mini-computers for the building, along with most of their
associated hardware. Without exception, every represented County
department was in favor of the centralized computer room with it's dedicated
HVAC and UPS.
There were a few questions raised for which we did not have answers. They
are as follows:
1) Will rent be charge for the room? If so, how will it be divided
among the building occupants?
2) Will the Courthouse Square project fund the equipment
necessary for the network design? (See attached equipment
sheet titled "Courthouse Square Network Design" from Ray
Blair of the Data Center.)
3) Will the Courthouse Square project fund the equipment and
primary software necessary to provide desktop monitoring of
hearings originating in the first floor hearing room, and perhaps
even the Legislature?
