The following is the instruction
provided in PR 78. It seems to me that John missed the point. This PR is
both a request for cost and a"IAQ Plan" since it specifies the amount of
filtration, minimum filter replacement intervals as well as additional
filter replacement requirements in the event of dirty construction
activities. As a matter of course, filters will be replaced before the
building is handed over.
1. Scope: (LEED) Advanced Construction Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)
Management
2. Use of the rooftop air handling systems during construction will
require the installation of filters at each floor return air entry to the
HVAC shafts as well as at the units as follows:
a. Provide a 30% filter at each Return Air entry to the HVAC
shafts, on each building level, from the ground floor through the fifth
floor. These filters shall be replaced every two weeks, and additionally as
required by construction operations, during construction of the work.
Filters shall be mechanically attached in a manner to prevent leakage of
ceiling plenum return air past the filter. (Duct tape shall be an
acceptable attachment method.)
b. The filter within each rooftop AC unit shall be a 65%
efficient unit. These filters shall be replaced when static pressure loss
at the filter is 0.5 in. w.g..
Let me know if you see a problem with the above
Leonard Lodder, A.I.A.
Arbuckle Costic Architects, Inc.
363 State Street,
Salem, OR 97301-3533
email: Ilodder@arbucklecostic.com <mailto:llodder@arbucklecostic.com>
-----Original Message-----
From: Joel Stirnkorb [mailto:joelster@teleport.com]
Sent: December 09, 1999 10:33 AM
To: Ilodder@arbucklecostic.com
Cc: jsears@open.org; clewis@melvinmark.com; bcourts@melvinmark.com;
bwasson@opengovt.open.org; bmccullough@open.org; sat@open.org
Subject: LEED Requirements
Leonard,
I spoke to John Gremmels this morning with Pence Kelly to discuss the
requirements of the LEED credit for the IAQ Construction Management
Plan.
