SAMPLE SPECIFICATION FOR METAL-FAB <br />MODEL NO CHASET"", SERIES 4G, IPIC GREASE DUCT <br />~ <br />The Grease Duct shall be factory prefabricated, double <br />wall type, listed by SBCCI PST & ESI and BOCA ES <br />EVALUATION SERVICE for the venting of grease laden <br />air from kitchen hoods requiring grease duct as <br />described in NFPA 96. The Grease Duct shall be rated <br />for continuous operation at 500° F(260° C) and <br />intermittent operation at 2000° F(1093° C). <br />The inner wall shall be constructed of 0.035" thick Type <br />304 (or optional 316) Stainless Steel. The outer wall <br />(casing) shall be constructed of 0.025 thickAluminized <br />Steel (or optional 0.024" thick Type 304 or 316 Stainless <br />Steel). <br />The Grease Duct shall have an 4" wide annular space <br />between the inner and outer walls which is filled with 4" <br />of high temperature ceramic fiber insulation. <br />The Grease Duct shall be sealed liquid tight by means <br />of a mechanical joint consisting of integral flanges on <br />adjoining sections of pipe, held together with a stainless <br />steel flange band and sealed with Type P080 Sealant. <br />The Grease Duct shall include hood and fan transitions, <br />pipe supports and guides, fittings, cleanout ports, ports <br />for the introduction of fire suppression or washdown <br />nozzles, expansion joints and thimbles for penetration <br />of non-fire rated building members, all as shown on <br />plans or as required to meet local building code <br />requirements. All components of the Grease Duct <br />system shall be provided by the Grease duct <br />manufacturer to ensure that the system meets the <br />requirements of the listing. <br />The Grease Duct shall be listed with SBCCI PST & ESI, <br />BOCA EVALUATION SERVICE, or approved by the <br />local building code authority, as a Two-Hour fire rated <br />system which can be installed at 0 inch clearance to <br />combustible surfaces. The Grease Duct shall be listed <br />to penetrate interior walls or partitions rated up to 2 <br />hours.
