The current plans do not
develop the entire block. There has been no placement of concrete on the site. This is the time to
carefully review the site development plans. The cunent development plan severely limits the
potential development of the remainder of the block. The board feels that the one-third of the
block not cunently planned for, and the air space above the planned facility, could be developed
into housing stock. The addition of three to six floors of housing above the currently planned
facility is easy to do now, later it witl not be economically feasible. Thi$ is the only site in the
downtown area that appears to have any chance of being developed into more than ` just a few"
housing units in the reasonably near future.
Downtown housing is a necessity. The employment base within CANDO is in excess of
12,500. Each of these employees who could live in the core area would not have to drive through
and/or park in adjoining neighborhoods every single workday.
Respectful(y,
. ,
William F. Ringnalda
For, and at the direction of, the CANDO board
