03~'O1/99 MON 14: ~~ FA~ 503 22a ~606 bIELVIN bIARK _COMPANIES ~~~ , T, ~
~~ 4.4.1.2 Why is excavated soil, frcm remediated areas, required ta be temporarily placed on
plastic sheeting? During footing excavation this may work akay in smal! amounts;
• howev~r, during mass excavation #he rnaterial would ~eed ta be tested in piace to avoid
any double handling of the material. The on~y locations we see that we may be diggfng
into remediated areas are where we need to dig the shear waH foctings,
We h~ve done projects before that when contaminated soils were discovered and a
consultant was hired that supervised the soil remova! process. On this project the crew
was not required to be 40 hour frained. My understanding is that whether or not people
need to be 40 hour trained dep~nds on the l~vel of contamination. At tlme of bid we did
not know the level af contamination and we still don't taday. Is there same reQuirement,
other than the one stated in this plan, that states that al~ field workers involved with the
contaminated soil are required to be 40 haur trained? I am also concer~ed that if the
entire site becomes classffied as a ~ontaminat~d site that everyone on the site may need
to have 40-hour training. Also, if contam+nat~d soil is discovered it woutd need to be
rerr~oved and backfiHed to a point that would remove any potential requirement for the
workers of trades involved with building the building to be 40 hour trained.
I do not understand the last sentence in this psragraph.
A~•4,2 Who does this work7
Safety plan
1.0 1 do ~ot want the safety officer directing the work. ~
2.Q What doees it mean when it says the p~oject ma~ager will have final say as to the
• implementation of the site HASP?
To tr~in a(I people that are an site is expensive and nat in our contract prfce.
The rest of this whole plan needs to be combed through in anather meeting.
Sampling plan
Th~ sampling p(an must nat interrupt workffow. Two-day wait on lab results is not acceptable.
C~ ooa
r. 02
~formslmemc
