~
•
~
CENTURY WEST
BNGINlPRING CORPORATION FIELD OBSERVATION REPORT
Project: Courthouse Square Date: 30 August 1999
Client: Marion County Project No. 40806.001.28
I spoke with Dave of Wadsworth Construction regarding the removal of unsuitable material
between grid lines K and J from grid lines 4 to 6. The material removed was clayey silty gravel.
The material was removed because it noticeably deflected when loaded by equipment on the site.
According to Dave, there was a clear distinction between the light brown clayey silty gravel and
the underlying light gray dense sand and gravel. The unsuitable layer terminated near or just
below the bottom of pad footing elevation.
Due to the fact that there was a clear distinction between the suitable and unsuitable materials
and because the elevation at which the change occurred required little or no excavation below
pad footing elevation, no site visit was required for this excavation.
The area was excavated to dense native sands and gravels. The area was properly prepared for
the placement of engineered fill or concrete.
W.
