Wasson, Project Manager <br />Re: Requ st for approval of Change Order #17 <br />Date: December 10, 1999 <br />Recommendation: <br />That the Board approve change order # 17 to the contract with Pence Kelly Contractor on <br />the Courthouse Square Project. This will increase the contract by $379058. <br />Background: <br />This is a complex change order in that it includes several items that have been underway <br />for months. Let me high light the most significant items: <br />1. Item #4 in the change order is for an increase of $205,994 and is the county cost for the space <br />plan changes that have been talked about and previously approved by the Board. This is a <br />reduced amount from the earlier estimate of $230,000. This item was budgeted for as a separate <br />item in the financial plan and does not come from contingency. <br />2. Item #5 is the tenant improvements for Transit space and is a cost born entirely by Transit. <br />3. Item #10 will provide for the underground work to bring the telephone and door control <br />systems across the street from the Courthouse to the project and for the actual pulling of the fiber <br />optic back bone to the project. <br />4. Item #13 will provide for an organizing system of all data and telecommunications systems <br />throughout the ceiling plenum spaces. It will significantly enhance the ability for changes and <br />modifications to the interior space over the life of the structure. <br />I recommend your approval of this change order. <br />
