<br />Steve Ward <br />May 4, 1999 <br />Page 3 <br />Please take the necessary steps to ensure that the City of Salem and all utility companies receive <br />notification and requests for location at least 48 hours prior to the start of construction. Requests <br />for inspection and testing of the system should be made to the City at least 24 hours in advance. <br />Submit one set of revised plans to all utility companies. All costs for relocation of existing <br />utilities shall be borne by the developer. <br />The consulting engineer shall be responsible for providing all surveying services necessary to <br />stake the project prior to construction and to prepare the as-built drawings when the project is <br />complete. <br />Construction must meet City of Salem Standard Construction Specifications as to materials and <br />workmanship. <br />Prior to final acceptance and start of the one-year warranty period, the Director shall initiate <br />video inspection to insure quality of the sewer and storm drain pipeline installation. (Salem <br />Revised Code 77.120(d), Resolution No. 91-63) <br />Water used on this project will not be furnished by the City of Salem. Water may be purchased <br />and obtained through a metered fire hydrant convenient to the construction site. Authorization <br />and arr~uigements can be made by calling the Development Services Section at (503) 588-6211, <br />24 hours in advance of your needs. Water may also be purchased from a bulk water station. <br />All tapping, installation of valves on existing municipal pressurized water mains, chlorination <br />and purity tests must be done by City forces. An estimate of expected costs for the above work <br />may be requested by calling the Development Services Section at (503) 588-6211. A deposit for <br />the full amount established must be received by the Public Works Departrnent prior to City <br />forces performing the work. Any additional chazges for tapping or chlorination must be paid <br />prior to closing of the project. <br />All tapping of existing municipal sanitary sewer, storm drain mains, and manholes must be done <br />by City forces. The fee necessary for such tapping must be received by the Public Works <br />Department prior to City forces performing the work. The costs for the above work may be <br />requested by calling the Development Services Section at (503) 588-6211. <br />Per Salem Revised Code Section 77.120, the engineer shall, prior to final acceptance and the start <br />of the one-year warranty period, furnish five rolled sets of good quality blackline prints of as- <br />built drawings for each construction phase, i.e., sewer, water, storm drain, and/or street <br />improvement, and all required easements. <br />PD:P:\985034.APP <br />
