Properly lay out the work and provide lines and measurements of the work executed <br />under the Contract Documents. Verify adjustments seemingly required due to existing <br />improvements, adjoining property rights, good appearance and for proper drainage. <br />b. Provide the services of a registered civil engineer or registered land surveyor, acceptable <br />to the Architect, to establish construction control lines, set clearing stakes and set grades <br />using grade stakes, slope stakes and blue tops (finish grade stakes). <br />~• Maintain construction lines and grade staking in a condition to assure accurate and <br />proper control of the work and to verify final grades and coristruction lines. <br />d. Record all survey data and make available to Architect. <br />4. Section 01045, Cutting and Patching: <br />a. Definition: <br />i. Cutting and Patching: Includes cutting into ewsting construction to provide for <br />the installation or performance of other work and subsequent fitting and patching <br />required to restore surfaces to their original condition. <br />. (1) Execute cutting (including excavating), fitting or patching of work <br />required to: make several parts fd properly; uncover work to provide for <br />installation of ill-timed woric, remove and replace defective work; remove <br />~ and replace work not conforming to requirements of Contract <br />Documents; install specified work in existing construction. <br />(2) In addition to contract requirements, upon written instructions of <br />Architect: uncover work to provide for ArchitecYs observation of covered <br />work and remove samples of installed material for testing. <br />b. Structural Work: <br />i. Do not cut-and-patch structural work in a manner resulting in a reduction of load- <br />carrying capacity or load/deflection ratio. Submit proposal and request and <br />obtain Architect's/Engineer's approval before proceeding with cut-and-patch of <br />structural work. <br />c. Operational/Safety Limitations': <br />i. Do not cut-and-patch operational elements and safety components in a manner <br />resulting in decreased performance, shortened useful life, or increased <br />maintenance. Submit proposals and requests and obtain ArchitecYs/Engineer's <br />approvals before proceeding with cut-and-patches. <br />d. Visual/Quality Limitations: <br />~. Engage the original InstalleNFabricator, or (if not available) an acceptable <br />equivalent entity, to cut-and-patch exposed work. <br />e• Payment for Costs: <br />i. Costs caused by ill-timed or defective work or work not conforming to Contract <br />Documents including costs for additional services of Architect shall be bome by <br />the party responsible for the deficiency. <br />ii. Cost of work done on instructions of Architect, other than defective or non- <br />confo-ming work shalt be bome by the Owner. <br />f• Materials: <br />i. General: Use materials for cutting and patching that are identical to existing <br />~ materials. If identical materials are not available, or cannot be used, use <br />materials that match existing adjacent surfaces to the fullest extent possible with <br />
