<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Assistant Legal <br />Counsel Senior <br />Class Code: <br />603 <br />Bargaining Unit: 13 - Non-Supervisory <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$3,408.80 - $4,565.60 Biweekly <br />$7,385.73 - $9,892.13 Monthly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Exempt02 Professionals Legal Counsel <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Assists Marion County Legal Counsel in providing legal advice and representation to the Board of <br />Commissioners, elected County officials and County departments. Performs other duties as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of the Marion County Legal Counsel, who reviews work for <br />effectiveness and conformance to policy. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this class; however, provides lead <br />direction to attorneys, paralegals and other staff assigned to assist with caseload. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />In the Assistant Legal Counsel series, this is the advanced, lead level. This class carries a caseload that <br />is complex in nature and of high profile and risk to the County. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Represents the county in federal and state court trial and administrative proceedings, and state <br />and federal appellate court proceedings. May participate in alternative dispute resolution <br />proceedings. <br />2.Provides legal advice and representation to the Board of Commissioners, elected officials, <br />department heads, supervisors and employees of county government on all issues relating to <br />county operations. <br />3.Reviews and drafts ordinances, orders, resolutions, real property instruments, contracts, etc. <br />Reviews boundary changes, annexations, special district documents, deeds, easements, and <br />other real property related matters. <br />4.Responds to inquiries from other governmental bodies and private citizens regarding County <br />operations.
