<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Public Health Nurse 1 <br />Class Code: <br />506 <br />Bargaining Unit: 04 - Oregon Nurses Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />Established Date: Feb 1, 1966 <br />Revision Date: Oct 1, 2016 <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$26.11 - $33.29 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Non-Exempt 02 ProfessionalsHealth <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Provides nursing care to individuals in a clinic setting, with a focus on the provision of direct care that <br />promotes health, prevents disease, and treats illness of the individual. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the direct supervision of a manager or supervisor, who assigns work, establishes goals and <br />reviews results obtained; may perform nursing duties as set forth in the medical standing orders <br />established for a specialty area. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this class. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />The PHN 1 performs a variety of nursing assignments, applying accepted, current nursing techniques and <br />implementing service activities. PHN 1 nursing services are designed to promote health, teach <br />preventive health care and techniques to clients, and provide direct client care and treatment. The PHN 1 <br />has limited community interface, and provides health education and services in primarily defined <br />settings. <br />The PHN 2 integrates nursing theory with public health science to improve and promote the health of the <br />entire community, recognizing, implementing and promoting into practice the interplay between the <br />individual's health and the community's health. PHN 2 provides comprehensive nursing services to <br />selected individuals, families, and groups, including health promotion, maintenance, education and <br />coordination of care. <br />The PHN 3 acts as a community link between service provision and overall community planning and <br />development, and participates in comprehensive health planning by bringing various aspects of nursing <br />service into the planning process.
