<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Medical Billing <br />Specialist <br />Class Code: <br />532 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />Established Date: Jul 1, 2006 <br />Revision Date: May 1, 2017 <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$18.67 - $25.02 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br /> Non-Exempt06 Administrative SupportHealth <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Performs detailed medical billing and accounts receivable work including financial record keeping in the <br />area of specialty; liaison with information technology staff, department management and vendor on <br />multiple medical billing software programs including identifying department processes, analyzing workflow <br />and identifying system requirements as well as changes needed; analyzes and reconciles data; provides <br />backup to other medical billing staff. Performs other duties as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the supervision of a supervisor who assigns work and reviews results for conformance to <br />department policies and standards. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this class. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Generates medical billing for electronic and manual claims disbursement to payers, processes <br />billings for related entities and specialized programs. <br />2.Monitors billing/accounts receivable computerized system and performs file maintenance duties. <br />3.Participates in service analysis to determine billing processes, coding requirements, billing <br />workflow and unit cost calculations. <br />4.Interfaces with information technology staff, department management and vendor related to <br />multiple medical billing software programs including identifying department processes, analyzing <br />workflow and identifying system requirements as well as changes needed, development of <br />processes, creating queries and reports necessary from a user perspective, and identifying <br />technical problems. <br />5.Reconciles accounts, auditing reports and performing research; resolves issues with insurance <br />carriers, other payers, service providers and staff.
