Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />over the counter and by mail; answer phone inquiries; maintain bankruptcy files, current <br />foreclosure lists, abandoned manufactured structure files, etc. <br />6.Maintain current knowledge of property tax collection laws and regulations and train the tax office <br />staff accordingly. <br />7.Coordinate the data exchange program between mortgage companies and department data <br />system; balance all checks and refunds to the final payment of taxes by the tape exchange <br />system. <br />8.Insure the timeliness of all reports, work projects and other office routines as prescribed by law. <br />9.Confer with the Assessor/Tax Collector on matters pertaining to policy and procedures; study, <br />interpret and apply laws governing the Tax Collector's office operations; assist in the preparation of <br />the department's budget. <br />10.Schedule vacations and track sick leave of employees in the tax section. <br />11.Perform other duties as assigned. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from high school, supplemented by additional college level coursework in <br />bookkeeping, accounting or related field; AND <br />2.Three (3) years of progressively responsible bookkeeping or accounting experience in a County <br />tax department or financial institution, and one (1) year of supervisory experience or equivalent <br />management training; OR <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training that demonstrates <br />the ability to perform the work described. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />1.Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable <br />driving history. Marion County will obtain a copy of the driving record for all qualified applicants <br />from Driver and Motor Vehicle Services. In order to qualify for this position, you must complete the <br />driving history release form included in the employment application. <br />2.Must possess and maintain proof of personal automobile liability insurance at a minimum in the <br />amount required by Oregon Law \[ORS Chapter 806\]. <br />3.Must pass a criminal history background investigation; however, conviction of a crime may not <br />necessarily disqualify an individual for this classification. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY <br />Working knowledge of: laws, regulations and procedures of the County Tax Office; modern office <br />procedures, practices, and equipment; functions, procedures, organization, laws and regulations <br />pertaining to the Tax Office. <br />Ability to: develop and implement original and revised procedures; Perform a variety of accounting <br />operations and to maintain complex financial records; prepare schedules and financial records; meet <br />multiple, simultaneous deadlines; understand and follow oral and written instructions; work with numerical <br />data; make accurate mathematical calculations rapidly; establish and maintain harmonious working <br />relationships with the general public, employees and supervisors; and to type at an acceptable rate of <br />speed, and with minimal errors. <br />ADOPTED: <br />03/03 <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
