<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Peer Support Specialist <br />Class Code: <br />070 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$15.69 - $20.97 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br /> Non-Exempt 05 ParaprofessionalsHealth <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Under close supervision, the Peer Support Specialist provides support, encouragement, and assistance <br />to mental health consumers. The specialist will promote those activities that foster recovery and <br />empowerment by sharing their personal experiences when appropriate, modeling self-help and wellness <br />activities. The Peer Support Specialist is a consumer advocate who facilitates and connects individuals to <br />services and activities. As a member of the treatment team the Peer Support Specialist provides <br />expertise, experience, and consultation to the team to promote a culture in which each individual's point <br />of view and preferences are recognized, respected, and integrated into treatment. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the close supervision of a qualified clinical supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, <br />and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this class. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Provide outreach to individuals to engage them in services and overcome barriers to participation <br />in treatment. <br />2.Assist peers in developing personal recovery and wellness goals. <br />3.Offer support, encouragement, and hope. <br />4.Share personal experiences and model effective self-help strategies. <br />5.Use advocacy skills and modeling to help support and empower individuals in developing their own <br />advocacy skills and self-efficacy. <br />6.Assist with access/linkage to community resources such as health/medical services, housing, <br />transportation, education, and employment. <br />7.Provide skills-training with a focus on development of self-efficacy, access to community resources <br />and the development of natural supports. <br />8.Provide assistance to individuals in gaining access to needed medical, social, educational, <br />entitlement, housing and other applicable services. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
