Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />6.Investigates complaints of failing drain fields or other sewage violations; contacts owners or <br />applicants by letter, telephone, and/or in person; and prepares enforcement referrals and <br />recommends appropriate legal action. <br />7.Evaluates building sites for construction and health hazards. <br />8.Writes documentation of investigations and inspections and ensures compliance with regulations <br />on property. <br />9.May be involved with Hazard communication to area residents as it relates to sewage disposal and <br />ground contamination. <br />10.May conduct other duties as required in the delivery of services in this area. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with 45 quarter hours of science <br />related to environmental sanitation, which must include a DEQ approved soils class; AND <br />2.Two (2) years experience in environmental sanitation, or related activities; OR <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Possess or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Class C Oregon driver's license. If in possession <br />> <br />of a current out of state driver's license, must obtain Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire. <br />Possess and maintain an acceptable driving record. A copy of the driving record for all qualified <br />> <br />applicants will be obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles. <br />Possess and maintain a registration as a professional Environmental Health Specialist or <br />> <br />Wastewater Specialist in accordance with ORS Chapter 700. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY <br />Thorough knowledge of: soil science, soil morphology and physical geology; Department of <br />Environmental Quality rules and regulations that apply to onsite wastewater treatment. <br />Skill and ability: to make investigations, compiles data, and presents a clear, concise report in oral and/or <br />written form; interpret and follow department policies, rules, laws, and procedures; establish and maintain <br />positive working relationships with coworkers, vendors, and the public. <br />ADOPTED: <br />07/89 <br />REVISED: <br />07/89; 10/93; 03/00; 07/05; 12/05; 09/11; 06/17; 03/18 <br />MARKET REVIEW: <br />09/11; 02/18 <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br />
