<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />GIS Analyst 1 <br />Class Code: <br />643 <br />Bargaining Unit: 08 - Marion County Employees <br />Association (Information Technology) <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$27.11 - $36.31 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSAEEOCDepartment <br />: Non-Exempt : 03 Technicians : Information Technology <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Employees at this level work under direct to general supervision and are responsible for creating and <br />maintaining geographic information system (GIS) databases, translating geographic and demographic <br />data, programming, testing, modifying, configuring, updating, maintaining, documenting and/or otherwise <br />supporting basic GIS systems software (computer programs). <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />This classification series includes GIS Analyst 1, 2, and 3. The GIS Analyst 1 is considered the entry- <br />level position of this series. The classification distinguishes itself from the GIS Analyst 2 & 3 because it <br />requires a basic level of analytical skills. The GIS Analyst 1 implements and maintains systems and <br />programs. The GIS Analyst 1 works under the general supervision of a higher-level professional <br />employee who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews work for conformance to technical standards <br />and compliance with department goals. Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of <br />positions in this classification. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Assist in identifying current and projected data processing needs, resources and system <br />performance to plan new or modified applications; Assist in research of new systems and <br />modifications; Assist in feasibility studies and cost/benefit analyses; provides limited technical <br />support and training to system users. <br />2.Assist in preparing detailed specifications, flow charts and diagrams from which programs will be <br />written. <br />3.Assist in the creation of system prototypes; write, modify test and document programs; provide <br />systems maintenance, testing and production runs. <br />4.Maintain user accounts and system security. <br />5.Evaluate new applications/systems to determine if they meet user requirements; monitors and <br />maintains systems. <br />6.Examine mapping products to determine and develop programs and methods of production. <br />7.Translate geographic and demographic data into formulas for data entry, writes programs for the <br />creation of mapping products. <br />8.Maintain and update multiple layers of information in the database that is used to produce GIS <br />products. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
