Conducts basic research, analysis <br />and presentations of data related to land use, zoning and subdivision ordinances; interprets <br />comprehensive land use planning documents; zoning coordination. Performs other work as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the direct supervision of the Building and Planning Division Manager or Principal Planner <br />who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness through <br />the analysis of performance, reports and conferences. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />The Assistant Planner is the entry-level professional class within the planning series. Positions at this <br />level typically perform broad generalist duties of limited complexity and work under close supervision. <br />This classification differs from the journey-level Associate Planner, which has responsibility for more <br />complex assignments and works with greater independence. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Advises permit applicants, the public, and other agencies on procedures and requirements <br />pertaining to land use regulations, zoning, subdivisions, partitions, and zoning administrative <br />actions; reviews proposed projects of limited complexity for compliance with zoning and <br />development ordinances. <br />2.Receives, reviews, and processes land use applications. <br />3.Compiles data, of limited complexity, on supportive technical data for comprehensive and <br />community plan development; compiles data on transportation, energy, housing, land availability, <br />community facilities, population estimates, natural resources, and socioeconomic factors. <br />4.Provides review of building permit applications for conformance to zoning ordinances; and assigns <br /> addresses and street names. <br />5.May perform research and prepare draft reports on basic zoning and subdivision applications. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
