Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />6.Prepares new or revised ordinances and codes necessary to implement planning programs and <br />policies; coordinates implementation of new programs with other agencies and departments to <br />ensure conformance and compliance with existing programs and policies. <br />7.Represents the County's planning and economic development goals and objectives before <br />significant policy-making agencies, councils, groups and organizations such as legislative <br />committees, AOC and Land Conservation and Development Commission. Serves on state and <br />regional planning and economic development committees. <br />8.Responds to public inquiries regarding planning programs. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from a four year college or university with major course work in planning or a related <br />field; AND <br />2.Four (4) years work experience in land use planning; OR <br />3.Masters Degree with major course work in planning or a related field; AND <br />4.Two (2) years of work experience; OR <br />5.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Must possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon driver's license. Must possess, at <br />> <br />time of hire, and maintain an acceptable driver's record. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Thorough knowledge of: Principles, methods, and procedures of city, County, regional and statewide <br />planning; environmental, social, economic, and legal issues related to County planning and development; <br />land use and design principles and practices; statistical methods and their application to planning and <br />economic development projects; principles of community organization and citizen involvement; visual <br />communication principles and practices; public speaking techniques; basic math; English grammar and <br />composition. <br />Some knowledge of: Principles and techniques of supervision. <br />Considerable Skill to: Coordinate the work of planning professionals; communicate effectively both orally <br />and in writing; prepare and deliver oral presentations to public and private groups; organize and conduct <br />comprehensive research studies utilizing various sources of information; analyze and evaluate complex <br />data and make recommendations; direct the preparation of maps, charts and other graphic materials <br />which illustrate planning studies; prepare clear and concise reports; interpret and apply appropriate laws, <br />regulations, and codes; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the public and <br />other County personnel. <br />ADOPTED: <br />01/75 <br />REVISED: <br />11/92, 01/00, 02/02, 04/02, 01/03, 02/09, 07/12; 06/18 <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
