Septic Permit 555-18-003782-PRMT Page 2 of 3
Date Certificate Issued _03/27/2019ti . -
Work Description: NEW INSTALL_for WINERY with TASTING ROOM
ConditionsApproval
Approved Area&System Type:This property has been approved for an Alternative Treatment Technology(ATT)System in
the area identified in Site Evaluation Report 555-18-003040-EVAL. Please refer to the signed approved plans dated June 8,
2018.
Any deviation from the approved plans must be authorized by this office prior to installation or the permit may be voided. It is
the responsibility of applicant/installer to coordinate these requirements with all others in OAR 340-071-0220.
This permit is for a system designed to serve a winery and tasting room. Meals will be limited to semi-annual events with up to
forty diners. Design flow is for up to 8 employees @15 gpd; 150 tasters @ 3 gpd;and 40 diners @15 gpd. Peak sewage flow
into the system is limited to a maximum of 1350 gallons per day, with an average sewage flow of not more than 675 gallons per
day. Premature failure of the treatment system may.occur if either of these flow quantities is exceeded. For events or other
times where you expect your water use may exceed these flows,it is advisable to contract for temporary portable toilets.
Specific Requirements:
ATT Pretreatment Unit: MicroFAST 1.5 as per approved attached plan.
COMMERCIAL SYSTEMS with design flow greater than 600 gallons per day must be constructed in duplex(with two or more
alternating pumps)with controls that activate an alarm when one of the pumps malfunctions. A pre-manufactured electrical
control panel capable of monitoring pump performance through elapsed-time meters and cycle counters is required. An effluent
filter and service access riser is required at the outlet of the septic tank. Dosing cycle must discharge no more than 20%of
projected daily sewage flow each cycle(maximum dose 270 gallons).
SERVICE CONTRACTS: The owner of an ATT system must maintain a service contract with a maintenance provider certified
by the manufacturer to serve and maintain the onsite system. A service contract must be entered into before the system is
installed and must be maintained until the system is decommissioned. The service contract must provide for a minimum of four
inspections and service visits by a maintenance provider scheduled once every six months over a two-year period to inspect,
adjust, and service the ATT. The maintenance provider must submit an annual report and fee. Please review OAR
340-071-0345 for full requirements.
TANK RISERS: The tanks must be installed with watertight risers extending to the ground surface or above. The riser lids must
be gasketed and securely fastened. Service access manhole for the dosing tank must be adequate to construct, install, service
and operate the equipment within. Components must be easily accessible for servicing and maintenance.
ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS ARE REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION OF THIS SEPTIC SYSTEM. Detailed instructions for
dosing tank/effluent pump installations are available in our office. The electrical wiring to the pumps and alarms must be
installed in accordance with the appropriate Electrical Code. The electrical work must be done under a Marion County Electrical
Permit and must be inspected and approved by a Marion County Electrical Inspector. The work must be left uncovered and
accessible for inspection. The electrical inspection includes the connections to the pump and alarm in the ATT unit and the
dosing tank, the wiring in the trench and the connections in the structure.
INTERMITTENT STREAM CROSSING REQUIREMENTS: Where the pressure effluent line crosses an intermittent stream, the
line must be encased. Casing pipe must be PVC or ABS Schedule 40 or heavier,or metal such as well casing. Pipe ends must
be located at least 25 feet away from the stream. All plastic pipe joints in the pressure transport pipe and encasement pipe must
be solvent-welded. An air test of the pressure line will be required.
HEADER PIPE must measure a minimum of 4 feet between Distribution Box and start of drainfield trench, must be installed
level,and bedded on undisturbed earth.
DO NOT INSTALL SYSTEM DURING WINTER MONTHS(Nov. 1 —March 1)
The geographical area in which the property lies is considered a risk to installation during winter months. Therefore, for this
installation a Marion County Onsite Wastewater Specialist must specifically approve soil moisture conditions at this site for
installation to occur during the period from November 1st to March 1st. This may include a field visit directly prior to installation.
OBSERVE ALL SETBACKS AND SEPARATION DISTANCES as required by the DEQ rules. A copy of the DEQ setback
requirements is available in our office and online at http://www.oregon.gov/deq/Residential/Pages/Onsite-Resources.aspx and
scroll to Table 1,"Minimum Separation Distances."
MAINTAIN PERMANENT ACCESSto septic tank for pumping and service. The septic tank should be pumped and inspected by
a licensed septic tank pumping service before sludge and scum accumulations reach 30%of the tank liquid operating volume.
Pumping every 3 to 5 years is an average interval. The septic tank is a reservoir for the solid materials in the sewage waste
stream. Excessive accumulation of these solid materials in the septic tank will cause the solids to wash out of the tank and into
the drainfield. This will cause irreversible damage to the drainfield and will eventually lead to a system failure.
3/27/19:5:22:57PM Page 2 of 3 ONS_OnsiteCSC_pr
