Under the conditions observed at the above address, an ALTERNATIVE SYSTEM with CAPPING FILL
DRAINFIELD or GRAVELLESS ABSORPTION METHOD is required by DEQ rules for both the INITIAL and
FUTURE REPAIR systems. Please refer to the signed approved site plan dated April April 10, 2019.
Alternative systems include SAND FILTERS, RECIRCULATING GRAVEL FILTERS, and ALTERNATIVE
TREATMENT TECHNOLOGIES. Alternative systems are installed where soil, drainage, water table levels, or
space limitations do not allow for a standard system installation. The unit pre-treats the septic tank effluent
before it is discharged into the ground. The owner of a Sand Filter, RGF or ATT system must maintain a
service contract with a licensed and certified professional to service and maintain the onsite system.
A service contract must be entered into before the system is installed and must be maintained until the
system is decommissioned.
Specific Requirements
Please refer to the Soil Notes/Field Worksheet which shows the approved areas and other details of the site
visit.
ANTI-BUOYANCY IS REQUIRED for the septic tank. Please refer to manufacturer's specifications as listed
on the DEQ website regarding approved anti-buoyancy methods.
AN EFFLUENT LIFT PUMP IS REQUIRED to install the septic system disposal field in the approved area and
at the required depth. Detailed instructions for dosing tank/effluent pump installations are available in our
office. The electrical wiring to the pump and alarm in the dosing tank, the wiring in the trench and the
connections in the structure must be done under a Marion County Electrical Permit.
GRAVELLESS ABSORPTION TRENCHES ARE ALLOWEDas part of this installation. Hole spacing in the
pressure distribution piping is 24 inches on center. A minimum 2-foot squirt height is required at the most
remote orifice. Each line must end with a long sweep elbow and flushing orifice with removable cap at or
above finished grade. Each pressure lateral must have at least one inspection port with minimum diameter of
6 inches. Chamber must be supported by adequate footing and have a barrier to prevent burrowing animals
from entering the absorption chambers.
Additional Conditions of Site Approval
1. This approval is for a system designed to serve an agricultural business office. Peak sewage flow into the
system is limited to a maximum of 225 gallons per day, with an average sewage flow of not more than 113
gallons per day. This is estimated to be sufficient for up to 15 employees. Premature failure of the treatment
system may occur if either of these flow quantities is exceeded. If, for some reason, you expect your water
use may exceed these flows, it may be advisable to increase the size of the treatment system.
2. Any alteration of natural soil conditions(i.e. cutting or filling) in the acceptable area may void this approval.
3. Both the initial and replacement disposal areas are to be protected from traffic, livestock and farming
activities, development or other potential disturbance of natural soil conditions. The area must not be
subjected to excessive saturation due to, but not limited to, artificial drainage of ground surfaces, roads,
driveways and building down spouts.
4. This approval is given on the basis that the parcel described above will not be further partitioned or
subdivided.
5. Placement of a well within 100 feet of the approved areas may invalidate this approval.
