A copy of the DEQ setback requirements is
available in our office and online at
http://www.oregon.gov/deq/Residential/Pages/Onsite.aspx under Rules: Division 71: Table
1.
MAINTAIN PERMANENT ACCESSto septic tank for pumping and service. The septic
tank should be pumped and inspected by a licensed septic tank service before
sludge and scum accumulations reach 30% of the tank liquid operating volume.
Pumping every 3 to 5 years is an average interval. The septic tank is a reservoir for the
solid materials in the sewage waste stream. Excessive accumulation of these solid
materials in the septic tank will cause the solids to wash out of the tank and into the
drainfield. This will cause irreversible damage to the drainfield and will eventually lead to a
system failure.
Installation of this onsite wastewater treatment system has been determined to comply with the applicable requirements in
Oregon Administrative Rules Chapter 340, Divisions 071 and 073 and the Conditions of Approval above.
1.
