Marion County
OREGON
PUBLIC WORKS
August 31, 2016
BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS
Sam Brentano
Kevin Cameron
Janet Carlson Dennis Bethel
DIRECTOR Bethel Excavating
Alan Haley P.O. Box 504
ADMINISTRATION Turner OR 97392
BUILDING
INSPECTION
EMERGENCY RE: Activity Number 555-16-005813; Authorization/ Major Alteration
MANAGEMENT Permit at 6514 Hunsaker Road SE, Turner
ENGINEERING Dear Dennis Bethel,
ENVIRONMENTAL
SERVICES
An evaluation of the test holes dug for soil analysis was conducted on
OPERATIONS August 24, 2016. The conditions observed during this site evaluation
PARKS indicate that the area around the evaluated test holes is not capable of
PLANNING supporting a standard septic system. Oregon Administrative Rules allow
standard systems only where a permanent water table does not come
SURVEY closer than 72 inches from the ground surface. Evaluation at your site
found conditions associated with saturation at or near the surface in the
test pits. At your site, a septic system that provides effluent pre-treatment
is required.
Under the conditions observed at the site, an ALTERNATIVE SYSTEM is
required by DEQ rules for the alteration. The property has been approved
for a SAND FILTER or an ATT Treatment Standard 2 followed by a
capping fill drainfield with pressure distribution.
To proceed with the Major Alteration, please provide the following:
1. A completed application for an ATT System treatment standard
#2 or Sand Filter, including a signed Maintenance Agreement.
2. A detailed septic system stakeout. System requirements and
stakeout instructions are enclosed. The stakeout must be inspected on
the property and approved before the permit can be issued. System sizing
requirements are enclosed.
3. A scale-drawn, detailed site plan showing the staked proposed
septic system. Indicate dimensions and distances for all items requiring
setbacks (see enclosed).
5155 Silverton Road NE•Salem,OR 97305-3802• wwwco merlon or.us
Printed on recycled paper• Reduce—Reuse—Recycle-Recover
