Marton County Building Inspection Division
Onsite Wastewater Review
OREGON
PUBLIC WORKS.
Activity Number: 555-18-002475-INQY Date: December 18,2019
Project Address: 10685 Sunnyside Road SE,Jefferson
Parcel 2 of 2 Property Line Adjustment Case No. 17-027; TL 093W10D 01901
Completed By: Claudia R Hill,REHS, Onsite Wastewater Specialist
SEPTIC SYSTEM RECORD REVIEW
This record review was conducted in conjunction with Property Line Adjustment Case No. 17-027. Review
is for the septic system on tax lot 1901. The proposed adjustment is from 2.88 acres to 2.20 acres.
Marion County file records have no information regarding installation of the septic system serving this
property. Assessor records indicate a manufactured structure and list Year Built as 1969. The system was
reviewed for a land use action in 1996 and found to be operational.
I conducted a site visit April 3,2018. The system was not in use. Ends of lines were exposed for inspection
and there was no sign of failure. The drainfield is located alongside a seasonal drainage with as little as 13
feet of separation. Current code requires a 50 foot separation between drainfield and seasonal drainage.
ORS454.675 allows use of a pre-1974 system that is not failing or causing water pollution.
The property line adjustment meets setbacks to the existing system. The repair area identified during the
1996 review has since been compromised with a structure erected over it. There appears to be adequate area
for an Alternative Treatment Technology(ATT)repair on the adjusted parcel.
THIS RECORD REVIEW IS BASED ON THE INFORMATION SUBMI l lhD BY THE APPLICANT.
Please refer to the signed approved site plan dated December 17,2019.
THE APPROVED SEPTIC SYSTEM AREA MUST BE PROTECTED from any vehicular traffic, livestock
and farming activities. Other activities such as logging, excavating or filling, driveway placement or any
similar activities may also damage the soil in the area and adversely affect the septic system approval. The
areas of the initial septic system and the future repair area must both be protected.
THE SEPTIC TANK SHOULD BE PUMPED AND INSPECTED by a licensed septic tank pumping service
when sludge and scum accumulation reaches no more than 30%of tank volume. Pumping every 3-5 years is
an average interval. The septic tank is a reservoir for the solid materials in the sewage waste stream.
Excessive accumulation of these solid materials in the septic tank will cause the solids to wash out of the tank
and into the drainfield. This will cause irreversible damage to the drainfield and will eventually lead to a
system failure.
5155 Silverton Rd NE Salem,Oregon 97305-3802-Phone(503)588-5147-Fax(503)588-7948
