<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Legal Department <br />Specialist <br />Class Code: <br />028 <br />Bargaining Unit: 12 - Confidential/Non- <br />Management <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$19.49 - $26.11 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br /> Non-Exempt06 Administrative SupportLegal Counsel <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Serves as Legal Department Specialist to Legal Counsel in the preparation of complex legal orders and <br />documents. Performs other work as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of Legal Counsel, who establishes goals, assigns work, and reviews <br />the results obtained for overall effectiveness through the analysis of performance, reports and <br />conferences. May receive lead direction from staff attorneys to assist with caseload. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Performs a wide variety of advanced legal secretary work including document preparation, <br />maintenance of accurate and detailed records, verifying accuracy of information, researching <br />discrepancies, and recording information. <br />2.Assists legal counsel with annual budget preparation. Keeps current on and utilizes budget <br />preparation standards, formats and practices. Attends budget meetings as department <br />representative. <br />3.Types, drafts, proofreads, and word processes a variety of legal documents including general <br />correspondence, agendas, reports, memos, and statistical charts from rough draft, dictaphone <br />recordings, or verbal instruction; examines legal documents for completeness, consistency and <br />accuracy; independently composes correspondence and memoranda related to responsibilities <br />assigned, including simple legal documents. <br />4.Prepares routine motions and other documents to assist with trial preparation. <br />5.Prepares orders for Hearings Officer, requiring knowledge of land use and zoning terminology and <br />format, and knowledge of laws and regulations governing vehicle tows and animal control. <br />6.Maintains calendars and schedules of activities, meetings, and various events; coordinates <br />activities with other County departments, the public, and outside agencies. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
