<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Mental Health Specialist <br />Class Code: <br />552 <br />> <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$22.23 - $29.79 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Non-Exempt 02 ProfessionalsMultiple Departments <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Provides assessments and treatment of individuals and families, including groups; provides crisis <br />assessment and intervention services and related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class <br />is to provide assessment and treatment services with oversight and support provided by a supervisor. <br />Individuals and families served will generally have less complex needs and diagnoses as compared to a <br />MHS 2 and MHS 3. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under close supervision of a supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews the <br />results obtained for overall effectiveness. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of others is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Determines individual service needs, eligibility and appropriateness of services; makes referrals <br />and coordinates with other agencies to obtain services for individuals and their families. <br />2.Assesses individual functional skills, mental health and/or behavioral symptoms using a variety of <br />standard assessment tools; determines treatment needs and develops individualized individual <br />treatment plans; directs provision of treatment services. <br />3.Provides individual, family, case management and group treatment services to individuals and <br />families using a variety of evidence based practices which may include Cognitive Behavioral <br />Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Collaborative Assessment & Management of <br />Suicide (CAMS), Collaborative Problem Solving (CPI), and Motivational Interviewing as clinically <br />indicated, <br />4.Provides crisis assessment and specific intervention services which may include development of <br />safety/crisis plans, and suicide and self-harm risk assessments with supervisor oversight. <br />5.Provides mental health and/or chemical dependency education and training to other staff, outside <br />professionals and the community <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/4/2020 <br /> <br />
