The LPN acts as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, provides direct care <br />services to patients in treatment facilities such as hospitals, institutions, or clinics and in the community to <br />ensure patients’ physical, emotional, and mental well-being; and also provides direct services to prevent <br />disease. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Employees in this class receive general supervision from a nursing supervisor who evaluates work <br />through review of charting and documentation on patient medical sheets, direct observation, and <br />feedback from patients, patients' families, and physicians. Work performed by employees in this class is <br />governed by: federal and state laws pertaining to illness, communicable diseases, handling of medication, <br />and reporting of child abuse; Oregon Board of Nursing policies and procedures; patient care plans and <br />physicians' orders; policies and procedures of the agency; and practices of the nursing profession. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this class. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Nursing Assessment and Nursing Care Plan. Assists in performing nursing assessment: Performs <br />focused screening, assessments, observational, or event-focused assessments; collects and <br />timely communicates data and information; determines immediate need for intervention; provides <br />data to assist in development of a nursing diagnosis. Contributes to the development of a nursing <br />care plan. <br />2.Administration of Medication and Treatments. Typical tasks: Verifies physician's orders by <br />reviewing documentation; dispenses and administers prescribed topical, oral, or injectable <br />medications or immunizations under the direction and supervision of an RN or other authorized <br />health care provider; provides treatment using sterile techniques, such as dressing changes, <br />catheterization, tracheotomy, and ileostomy care; observes isolation procedures for patients with <br />infectious or communicable diseases; administers oxygen or suction therapy; performs a variety of <br />http://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID...9/23/2020 <br /> <br />
