<br />LEGAL SECRETARY 2 <br /> <br /> Classification #: 017 <br /> FLSA: Non-Exempt <br /> EEOC:06 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: <br />Independently performs legal support activities of a complex clerical nature, which require <br />specialized training and skills; performs related work as required. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED: <br />Works under the supervision of an Legal Assistant Supervisor who assigns work, establishes <br />goals, and reviews results obtained for compliance with department policies, procedures and <br />goals. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED: <br />Supervision of employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: <br /> (Duties may include, but are not limited to the following.) <br /> <br />1.May perform any of the duties of the Legal Secretary 1 class, but distinguished by a <br />primary focus on the duties listed below. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Performs a wide variety of advanced legal secretary works including document <br />preparation, maintenance of accurate and detailed records, verifying accuracy of <br />information, researching discrepancies, and recording information. Acts as notary public <br />for the office. <br /> <br /> <br />3.Types/word processes, drafts, and proofreads a variety of legal documents from <br />transcription, rough draft or verbal instruction; examines legal documents for <br />completeness and consistency; compose correspondence and memoranda including <br />simple legal documents. <br /> <br /> <br />4.Answers public inquiries; obtains information from clients for entry in departmental <br />records. <br /> <br /> <br />5.Schedules and subpoenas witnesses for court appearances. <br /> <br /> <br />6.Backs-up other positions as needed. <br /> <br />RECRUITING REQUIREMENTS <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: <br />Considerable knowledge of: accepted modern office practices, procedures and techniques; <br />English composition, spelling, and grammar; arithmetic; concepts of prioritizing/organizing <br />work; modern office equipment and machinery and their intended use; a variety of computer <br />systems and software. <br /> <br /> <br />
