<br /> <br />OFFICE SPECIALIST 2 <br /> <br />Classification #003 <br />FLSA: Non-Exempt <br />EEOC: 06 <br /> <br /> <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Independently performs a variety of responsible administrative support activities to promote and <br />maintain effective program services, according to established practice and procedures; performs <br />related work as required. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of a Sheriff’s Office supervisor or manager who assigns <br />work, sets goals and reviews work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with office <br />policies, goals, and objectives. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification; however, <br />may provide training and give instruction to office staff and may exercise lead responsibility as <br />directed. <br /> <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />This level in the Office Specialist series performs a variety of moderately difficult administrative <br />support activities according to generally established guidelines, regulations, or instructions. <br />Incumbents are expected to understand and correctly apply appropriate rules, procedures, and <br />guidelines. Starting with this level in the Office Specialist series, there is an emphasis on <br />providing broad support services in an independent, proficient manner. <br /> <br />This level in the Office Specialist (OS) classification series is distinguished from the OS 1 level, <br />by the effective and more independent performance of general office duties requiring prior <br />training and experience; this level is distinguished from the next higher level, Office Specialist 3, <br />by the OS 3 level's independent performance of more specialized, complex or technical work <br />assignments. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br /> (Duties may include, but are not limited to the following.) <br />May perform any of the duties of the OS 1 class in this job series, but distinguished by a primary <br />focus on the duties listed below. <br /> <br /> <br />1.Receives and transfers telephone calls on a multiple-line system; provides information <br />relating to county, office, and/or program services; assists the public in completing forms <br />and applications; transfers or refers calls to proper source; interprets office policy to <br />convey information about services. <br /> <br />2.Greets visitors and/or clients and directs individuals to appropriate staff. <br /> <br />Additionally, may do any or all of the following: <br /> <br />
