<br />ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST - DETECTIVE SECTION <br /> <br />Classification #014 <br />FLSA: Non-Exempt <br />EEOC: 06 <br /> <br /> <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: <br /> <br />Acts as Administrative Specialist to the Detective Section of the Sheriff's Office; composes <br />letters, reports and memoranda requiring absolute accuracy and considerable knowledge of <br />Sheriff’s Office and section policies and functions; makes moderate level decisions on section <br />procedures and practices; does related work as required. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED: <br /> <br />Works under the general supervision of the Detective Section Sergeant, who assigns work, sets <br />goals, and reviews work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Office policies, goals, <br />and objectives. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED: <br /> <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: <br /> (Duties may include, but are not limited to the following.) <br /> <br /> <br />1.Prepares, edits, and proofreads memos, criminal reports, tape-recorded statements, texts, <br />and correspondence for the Detective Section Sergeant and Section Investigators from <br />rough draft, tape recording, handwritten copy, verbal communication or from other <br />material, with absolute accuracy, often for submission as evidence in a court of law. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Takes affidavits for search warrants from oral dictation in a highly charged, crisis <br />atmosphere; prepares search warrant returns, motions/orders to seal, and grand jury <br />subpoenas duces tecum for submission to a court of law. <br /> <br /> <br />3.Composes correspondence and prepares legal forms for signature of supervisor, applying <br />knowledge of established office and section procedures and functions. <br /> <br /> <br />4.Receives reports and anonymous tips on crimes over the telephone, as well as <br />information from other agencies, and prepares documentation on the information. <br /> <br /> <br />5.Prepares monthly and annual statistical reports on such occurrences as domestic violence, <br />child abuse, and amount of staff time devoted to specific crime categories in order to <br />determine cost to the county. Prepares graphs and statistical information for the <br />Detective Section and others as requested. <br /> <br /> <br />
