<br /> <br />LEGAL ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR <br /> <br />Classification #019 <br />FLSA: Exempt <br />EEOC: 06 <br /> <br /> <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br /> <br />Responsible for the supervision of administrative and technical support staff in one or more <br />programs of the District Attorney’s Office. Incumbents are responsible for performing advanced <br />and/or complex technical work in assigned area(s); providing technical direction and problem <br />resolution to program services and activities; ensuring staff and program compliance with <br />applicable laws, regulations, policy and procedures. Performs related work as required. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general direction of the Administrative Services Manager or Trial Team Leader <br />who determines goals, assigns work, and reviews performance through reports, observation, and <br />conferences. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br /> <br />Positions in this classification exercise full supervision over administrative and technical support <br />employees, and volunteers. Incumbents participate in the selection of new personnel, provide for <br />training, evaluate performance, respond to grievances, and recommend personnel actions. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br /> (Duties may include, but are not limited to the following) <br /> <br />1.Supervises and evaluates assigned staff and conducts performance evaluations; addresses <br />discipline issues; schedules staff coverage; reviews and approves payroll; authorizes <br />overtime; and evaluates workload. <br /> <br />2.Performs advanced and/or complex technical work in assigned area of responsibility. <br /> <br />3.Performs independent research, compilation and analysis of data, and applies significant <br />initiative and judgement in making recommendations for appropriate action. <br /> <br />4.Participates in establishing policy and procedures, and interprets pertinent policy, procedures, <br />laws and regulations to departmental personnel, outside agencies, and the public. <br /> <br />5.Composes, transcribes, and types correspondence, reports, and other materials relating to <br />confidential or sensitive department matters and may provide administrative or coordination <br />support to a department/section head. <br /> <br />6.Attends hearings or meetings to record official action and significant parts of discussion; <br />prepares minutes for the official record. <br /> <br />7.Examines reports, forms, payments or other material to ensure accuracy and completeness; <br />edits or adds information; researches, resolves or rejects errors and omissions. <br /> <br />8.Provides input in the development of the budget and assists in department development and <br />administration. <br /> <br />9.Acts as a representative and/or liaison between the District Attorney's office and other <br />government agencies. <br /> <br />10.Develops and maintains legal documents, forms, and brochures ensuring that they are in <br />alignment with current laws, regulations, and department practices. <br /> <br /> <br />
