Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />4.Prepare and dispense, or oversees LPN dispensing, medication within the county <br />corrections facility; supervise the orders and accounts for medicine, medical equipment <br />and first aid supplies for the facility and inmates. <br />5.Assist the physician in minor surgery; conducts daily sick calls and nursing rounds; <br />develop and carry out specialized nursing care plans. <br />6.May be assigned overall responsibility with the Health Program Supervisor in the <br />operation of the medical department pharmacy. <br />7.Provide consultative services to other sections of the facility as well as to other <br />agencies providing services to correctional clients; trains facility staff in use of basic <br />emergency procedures and equipment; represents the corrections facility at meetings <br />involving other correctional institution staff. <br />8.Educate staff and inmates in relation to disease process and plan for treatment. <br />9.Respond to after hour calls; may act in the capacity of the Health Program Supervisor. <br />10.Assess physical condition of patient during daily sick call clinics. Review treatment <br />plans, laboratory data, medication, and treatment records. <br />11.Develop nursing diagnosis and write treatment plans, monitor patient response to <br />treatment plans. Evaluate care effectiveness and adjust accordingly while being <br />consistent with best practices of the nursing profession. <br />12.Respond to emergencies involving injury or illness, stabilizes patient medical condition, <br />authorize patient transfer to the infirmary, or hospital emergency room. <br />13.Coordinate care with on-site and on-call providers. <br />14.Assist medical, dental, psychiatric, and psychological providers with examination and <br />reports. <br />15.Assist mental health with discharge planning to ensure continuity of care. <br />16.Perform other duties as assigned. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. <br />2.Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the <br />position, as determined by Marion County. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Possession of a license to practice as a registered professional nurse in the State of <br />> <br />Oregon at the time of appointment; AND <br />Ability to complete training on the security and supervision of inmates within six months <br />> <br />after initial hire. <br />This is a safety sensitive/special needs position. Final candidates selected for this <br />> <br />position will be required to pass a post offer drug screen, including testing for <br />marijuana.
