Taylor Property. Claim#3711K475P(3/23/2021) 5 of 7
HVAC (gas heat pump system)
• The residence was heated by a gas heat pump system.
Garage ("Shop")
• No observable smoke odor was present during the inspection.
• Visible smoke related particulate was observed on surfaces located directly adjacent to exterior
entry points(e.g.,flooring, contents).
• No other indications of wildfire smoke impact identified (e.g. staining).
• Unusual corrosion of metal or other materials that could be directly attributed to a fire event was
not observed.
Attic
• No observable smoke odor was present during the inspection.
• Visible smoke related particulates were observed on surfaces.
• Unusual corrosion of metal or other materials that could be directly attributed to a fire and smoke
event was not observed.
Sample Results
Discrete (single location)surface samples were collected from representative surfaces at the subject
residence. Laboratory results indicated the following:
• Interior(<5 ft from exterior entry points) - Results indicated non-detect (ND)to Minor(ND-3%)
--. - -levels of combustion related particulate in the sampled dust adjacent to exterior entry points.
• Interior(>5 ft from exterior entry points) - Results indicated non-detect to Trace (ND-<1%) levels
of combustion related particulate in the sampled dust further away from exterior entry points.
Conclusions
Based on this investigation, the following conclusions were reached:
1. Wildfire smoke impact is not suspected at the exterior of the property. This is based on sensory
findings identified on-site.
2. Wildfire smoke impact is suspected on surfaces and contents located directly adjacent to exterior
entry points(<5ft) in the garage("shop"). This is based on visual findings of smoke related
particulate on surfaces adjacent to exterior entry points.
3. Wildfire smoke impact is suspected in the attic. This is based on assessment findings, including
the presence of smoke related particulate on surfaces.
4. Wildfire smoke impact is suspected on interior surfaces and contents located directly adjacent to
exterior entry points (<5ft) in the home. This is based on assessment findings as well as surface
sample results.
5. Wildfire smoke impact is not suspected in the remaining areas of the home (interior>5ft, and
heating system). This is based on assessment findings as well as surface sample results which
indicated common levels of smoke related particulate present in the settled dust.
www forensicanalytical.com Forensic Analytical Consulting Services
