SAiD C.S. 8162 SET IRON <br />PiPES AS REFERENCE POINTS TO PRESUMABLY THE STONE'S ORIGINAL POSITION. iN 1969, OLIVER <br />(MCSR 15895) CiTES AN IRON PiPE AS THE SOUTH 1/16 CORNER BETWEEN SECTIONS 28 AND 29. iT <br />SEEMS EVIDENT THAT OLIVER FOUND THE IRON PiPE THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY FOUND ALONGSIDE THE <br />STONE BY C.S. 8162 AND ERRONEOUSLY REFERRED TO THE IRON PiPE AS THE 1/16 CORNER. WE WERE <br />UNABLE TO FiND ANY CORROBORATING EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT OLIVER'S REFERENCE. WE LOCATED A 2' <br />IRON PiPE ALONG WiTH THE AFOREMENTIONED IRON PiPES SET AS REFERENCE POINTS BY C.S. 8162. WE <br />WERE UNABLE TO FiND THE STONE SET BY THE GLO SURVEY. WE CONCLUDE THAT THE ACTUAL SOUTH <br />1/16 CORNER BETWEEN SECTIONS 28 AND 29 HAS NEVER BEEN RELIABLY ESTABLISHED. WE BELIEVE THAT CULVER INTENDED THAT THE "TRUE PLACE" WAS INTENDED TO <br />BE THE CENTER SOUTH 1/16 CORNER OF SECTION 28. iN 1913, BYARS FOUND CULVER'S MEANDER <br />CORNER REPORTING THAT "STONE AND WITNESSES AGREE WiTH DESCRIPTION" (MCSR 1448). <br />iN 1965, OLIVER RESUBDIViDED SECTION 28 AND SET AN IRON PiPE AT THE P051TiON OF THE <br />CENTER SOUTH 1/16 ACCORDING TO HiS MEASUREMENTS (MCSR 18595). OLIVER MAKES NO <br />MENTION OF EVIDENCE FOR CULVER'S MEANDER CORNER OR ANY SEARCH MADE THEREOF. WE <br />WERE UNABLE TO RECOVER EiTHER CULVER'S STONE OR OLIVER'S IRON PiPE. ONE OF CULVER'S BEARING TREES <br />CONTAINED THE ORIGINAL FACE MARKED 'BT'. WE MAINTAIN THAT CULVER ORIGINALLY <br />ESTABLISHED THE NORTH 1/16 CORNER OF SECTIONS 27 AND 28 AND BYARS PROPERLY <br />PERPETUATED CULVER'S POSiTON. THUS, WE HOLD CULVER'S POSITION ACCORDINGLY.
