Smoke detec- <br />tors may be battery operated when installed in existing <br />buildings. (R-215.2) <br /> <br />Appliances generating a glow, spark or flame and all <br />electrical outlets installed in a garage shall be elevated <br />18 inches above the floor. Appliances installed in a garage <br />shall be protected against damage by vehicles. (M-1114 & <br />NEC Article 500) <br /> <br />Column bases shall be protected against decay except when <br />approved wood of natural decay resistance or approved <br />pressure preservatively treated wood is used. Basement <br />posts or columns supported by piers projecting 2 inches <br />above the finish floor and separated by an approved <br />impervious barrier may be untreated wood. (R-307.1) <br /> <br />Provide screened attic vents with a net free area of 1/150 <br />of the attic area (or 1/300 if half is along eaves and the <br />other half in the upper portion). (R-707) <br /> <br />A readily accessible attic access shall be provided to any <br />attic area having a clear height of over 30 inches. A <br />framed opening not less than 22 in. by 30 in. is required. <br /> <br />Roof trusses are required to be designed by an Oregon <br />registered Engineer or Architect. For trusses manufactured <br />by an approved fabrication plant, have the design and layout <br />drawings available at the construction site for the framing <br />inspection. Ail job site cutting or modification of the <br />roof trusses shall be clearly shown in the engineer's design <br />calculations and drawings. If trusses are to be built at <br />the job site, submit the engineer's design and construction <br />plans to the Marion County Building Department prior to <br />start of construction and have the approved drawings <br />available at the site for the framing inspection. <br /> <br />INSULATION REQUIREMENTS: Provide insulation as follows: <br />ceiling R-38 (vaulted ceiling R-19) walls R-19 and under <br />floor R-19. <br /> <br />"APPROVED" only when this sheet is attached to plans. <br /> <br /> <br />
