(U.F.C. 10.303; U.F.C. Std. No. 10-1) <br /> <br />Attic areas are to be provided with draft stops to subdivide the space <br />into areas not to exceed 3,000 sq. ft. and the greatest horizontal <br />dimension shall not exceed 60 feet. (2516(f)) <br /> <br />Fireblocking shall be installed in the following locations. <br />a) In concealed spaces of stud walls and partitions, including furred <br /> spaces, so placed that the maximum dimension of any concealed <br />space is not over 10-feet, and at the ceiling and floor levels. <br />b) At ali intercennections between concealed vertical and horizontal <br /> spaces such as occur at soffits, drop ceilings and cove ceilings. <br />c) In concealed spaces between stair stringers at the top and bottom <br /> of the run and between studs along and in line with the run of <br /> stairs if the walls under the stairs are unfinished. <br />d) In openings around vents, pipes, ducts, chimneys, fireplaces and <br /> similar openings which afford a passage for fire at ceiling and <br /> floor levels, with noncombustible material. (2516(f)2) <br /> <br />Safety glazing material shall be installed in doors and in locations <br />within 12 inches of the door. (5406(d)6) <br /> <br />The number of sanitary fixtures provided shall be as required by Section <br />510 and Table No. 5-E of the code. <br /> <br />Toilet room floors shall have a smooth, hard, nonabsorbent surface such <br />as portland cement, concrete, seraphic tile or other approved material <br />which extends upward onto the walls at least 5 inches. Walls within <br />water closet compartments and walls within 2 feet of the front and sides <br />of urinals shall be similarly finished to a height of 4 feet and, except <br />for structural elements, the materials used in such walls shall be of a <br />type which is not adversely affected by moisture. (510(c)) <br /> <br />Water closet bowls for public use shall be elongated bowls equipped with <br />open-front seats. (901 UPC) <br /> <br />The mechanical plans have not been submitted and are not covered by this <br />review. Mechanical systems, when installed, are required to be in <br />compliance with applicable codes. <br /> <br />Provide an exhaust fan that is connected directly to the outside for the <br />toilet rooms. A mechanically operated exhaust system shall provide a <br />complete air change every 15 minutes (705) <br /> <br />A Type I exhaust system hood is required for collecting and removing <br />grease and smoke above all deep fat fryers, broilers, fry grills, <br />hot-top ranges barbecues and similar equipment. (UMC 2003) <br /> <br />Typ~ % hoods for use over charcoal and other solid fuel charbroilers <br />shall be provided with separate~hood and exhaust systems. (UMC <br />2003(9)1) <br /> <br />An automatic fire extinguishing system is required in commercial type <br />cooking equipment, from which grease-laden vapors emanate in normal <br />cooking operation. (UMC 2004(b)) <br /> <br /> <br />
