This <br />review is not intended to prohibit the building inspector from <br />requesting an evaluation of the acceptability of existing structural <br />members that may appear to be unsafe. Existing construction not <br />specifically detailed in the submitted plans and structural calculations <br />is beyond the scope of this review. <br /> <br />Approved numbers or addresses shall be placed on all buildings in such a <br />position as to bm plainly visible and legible from the street Or road <br />fronting the property. (UFC 10.208) <br /> <br />The grade away from foundation walls shall fall a minimum of 6 in. <br />within the first 10 ft., except as restricted by lot lines where the <br />fall will be a minimum of 6 in. regardless of the horisontal distance <br />available. (R-301.3) <br /> <br />Foundation walls shall extend at least 8 in. above the finished grade to <br />the foundation at all points. (R-304.2) (6 in. where pressure treated <br />sill plates are used.) <br /> <br />Foundation plates shall be bolted to the foundation with minimum <br />1/2 inch diameter by 10 inch anchor bolts embedded at least 7 inches <br />into concrete or reinforced masonry and spaced not more than 6 feet <br />apart with a minimum of 2 bolts per piece with one bolt within 12 inches <br />of the end of each piece. Figure (R-303) <br /> <br />Stairways shall not be less than 3 feet in clear width and the headroom <br />shall not be less than 6 feet 8 inches. The minimum required stair <br />tread width is 9 inches. The maximum stair rise is 8 1/4 inches. All <br />treads hall have a nosing or effective projection of approximately ! <br />inch when risers are closed. The greatest riser height shall not exceed <br />the smallest by more than 3/8 inch. (R-213.1) <br /> <br />Handrails meeting the following requirements shall be provided on at <br />least one side of stairways. The handgrip portion of handrails shall be <br />not more than 2 5/8 inches in cross-sectional dimension, or the shape <br />shall provide an equivalent gripping surface. Handrails shall be <br />mounted between a minimum of 30 inches and a maximum of 34 inches. They <br />shall be continuous the full length of the stairs. Ends shall be <br />returned or shall terminate in newel posts or safety terminals. <br />(R-214.1) <br /> <br />Firestopping shall be provided in the following locations: <br /> A) In concealed spaces of stud walls, including furred spaces, <br /> at the ceiling and floor level; <br /> <br />"APPROVED" only when this sheet is attached to plans <br /> <br /> <br />
