(3104(d)) <br /> <br />Parking spaces for disabled people shall be at least nine feet wide and <br />shall have an adjacent eight foot van access aisle (six foot minimum where <br />other required van accessible aisles provided). The aisle shall be <br />located on the passenger side of the parking space except that two <br />adjacent parking spaces may share an aisle. No ramp may extend into the <br />parking space or the aisle. The aisle shall have a running slope no <br />greater than 1 vertical in 50 horizontal. Parking spaces and access <br />aisles shall be firm, stable, smooth and slip resistant. (3104(g)) <br /> <br />A sign shall be posted for each accessible parking space. The sign shall <br />be clearly visible to a person parking in the space and marked with the <br />international sy~2ool of accessibility; indicate that the spaces are <br />reserved for persons with disabled person parking permits; and be designed <br />to standards adopted by the Oregon Transportation Commission. <br /> <br />The pavement of each accessible parking space shall be clearly marked with <br />the international symbol of accessibility to standards adopted by the <br />Oregon Transportation Commission. (3104(h)1 & 2) <br /> <br />NO ramp may extend into an accessible parking space or the adjacent access <br />aisle, and curb cuts and ramps may not be situated so they could be <br />blocked by a legally parked vehicle. (3104(i)) <br /> <br />Handles, pulls, latches, locks and other operating devices on doors, <br />windows, cabinets, plumbing fixtures and storage facilities shall have <br />lever or other shape permitting operation by wrist or arm pressure and not <br />requiring tight grasping, pinching or twisting to operate. The force <br />required to activate such equipment shall be no greater than 5 pounds- <br />force. Doors shall comply with section 3304 of the 1991 U.B.C. (3109(c)) <br /> <br />Grab bars shall be installed on walls at one side and the back of the <br />water closet. The top of grab bars shall not be less than 33 inches and <br />not more than 36 inches above and parallel to the floor. Grab bars <br />located on the closest side shall be a minimum 42 inches long with the <br />front end positioned not less than 24 inches in front of the water closet. <br />Grab bars located at the back shall be a minimum of 36 inches long. <br />(3109(J)(5)(C)) <br /> <br />Toilet paper and other dispensers or receptacles shall be installed within <br />easy reach of the water closet, and shall not interfere with unobstructed <br />floor space or grab bar use. Toilet paper dispensers shall be a minimum <br />of 19 inches above the floor. Other dispensers shall have reach ranges as <br />specified in Section 3109(b)3E and F. (3109(j)5) <br /> <br />When existing buildings and their related facilities are renovated, <br />altered or modified, they shall have any existing architectural barriers <br />removed in pa~t Or in total to a cost not to exceed 25 percent of the <br />total project cost, inclusive of the cost of eliminating architectural <br />barriers. (3112) <br /> <br />In choosing which accessible elements to provide, priority should be given <br />to those elements that will provide the greatest access, in the following <br />order~ <br /> A: Accessible parking. <br /> An accessible entrance. <br /> <br /> <br />
