(3112) <br /> <br />13. The maximum slope of a ramp on an assessible route is 1 vertical to 12 <br /> horizontal. The ramp mhall be at least 36 inches in clear width. <br /> Landings shall be provide top and bottom of each run. Landings shall bm <br /> level and have a minimum dimension measured in the direction of ramp run <br /> of not less than 60 inches. The maximum rise between landings for any <br /> ramp run shall be 30 inches. Handrails, as required for stairs, shall be <br /> provided on ramps having slopes steeper than 1 vertical to 20 horizontal. <br /> Ramps and Landings with drop-offs shall have curbs, walls or projecting <br /> surfaces that prevent people from slipping off the ramp. Curbs shall be <br /> at least 2 inches high and/or extended platforms shall be at least 12 <br /> inches wide. Ramps on accessible routes shall have a slip resistance with <br /> a static coefficient of friction of 0.8. (3109(g)) <br /> <br />14. Lavatory and sink faucet control handles shall be located no more than 17 <br /> inches from the front edge of the lavatory, sink or counter and shall have <br /> lever or other shape permitting operation by wrist or arm pressure and not <br /> requiring tight grasping, pinshing or twisting to operate. The force <br /> required to activate such equipment shall be no greater than 5 pounds. <br /> self closing valves are allowed if the faucet remains open for at least 10 <br /> seconds. Issuance of a building permit does not certify <br />compliance with this Federal Statute. Copies of the guidelines and information <br />concerning the ADA may be obtained from the Architectural and Transportation <br />Barriers Compliance Board, 1-202-653-7834 (voice/TDD) or 1-800 USA-ABLE.
