Ends shall be <br />returned or shall terminate in newel posts or safety terminals. <br />(R-214.1) <br /> <br />Firestopping shall be provided in the following locations= in concealed <br />spaces of stud walls at the ceiling, floors, soffits, drop ceilings, <br />between stair stringers and at openings around vents, pipes, ducts, <br />chimneys and fireplaces at ceiling and floor spaces. (R-402.7) <br /> <br />Firestopping shall be provided in the following locations= <br /> A) In concealed spaces of stud walls~, including furred spaces, at the <br /> ceiling and floor level; <br /> B) At all interconnections between concealed vertical and horizontal <br /> spaces such as occur at soffits, drop ceilings etc.; <br /> c) In concealed spaces between stair stringers at the top and bottom <br /> of the run; <br /> D) At openings around vents, pipes ducts, chimneys and fireplaces at <br /> ceiling and floor level, with noncombustible materials. (R-402.7) <br /> <br />11. <br /> <br />12. <br /> <br />Every sleeping room shall have at least one operable window approved for <br />emergency egress or rescue. The window sill height shall not be more <br />than 44 inches above the floor. The minimum net clear opening width <br />dimension shall be 20 inches. The minimum net opening height shall be <br />24 inches. The minimum net clear opening area shall be at least S.7 <br />square feet. (R-210.2) <br /> <br />Smoke detectors shall be installed outside of each separate sleeping <br />area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms and on each additional <br />story of the dwelling including basements. In dwelling units with split <br />levels, a smoke detector need be installed only on the upper level, <br />provided the~ower level is less than one full story below the upper <br />level, excep~that if there is a door between levels then a detector is <br />required on each level. All detectors shall be connected to a sounding <br />device or other detectors to provide, when actuated, an alarm which will <br />be audible in all sleeping areas. (R-215.1) <br /> <br />13. <br /> <br />14. <br /> <br />iS. <br /> <br />16. <br /> <br />17. <br /> <br />In new construction, required smoke detectors shall receive their <br />primary power from the building wiring. Smoke detectors may be battery <br />operated when installed in existing buildings. (R-215.2) <br /> <br />Joists under bearing partitions shall be doubled or a beam of equivalent <br />size shall be provided. Double joists which are separated to permit the <br />installation of piping or vents shall be solid blocked spaced a maximum <br />of 4 feet on center. (R-602.8) <br /> <br />Not less than one exit shall be provided from each dwelling unit. The <br />required exit door shall be a side-hinged door and not less than 3 ft in <br />width and 6 ft 8 in. in height. (R-211) <br /> <br />A readily accessible attic access shall be provided to any attic area <br />having a clear height of over 30 inches. A framed opening not less than <br />22 in. by 30 in. is required. (R-708) <br /> <br />Roof trusses are required to be designed by an Oregon registered <br />Engineer or Architect. For trusses manufactured by an approved <br />fabrication plant, have the design and layout drawings available at the <br />construction site for the framing inspection.
