This review is not intended to prohibit the building <br />inspector from requesting an evaluation of the acceptability of existing <br />structural members that may appear to be unsafe. ~xisting construction <br />not specifically detailed in the submitted plans and structural <br />calculations is beyond the scope of this review. <br /> <br />A copy of approved plans when required by the building official shall be <br />kept on the site of the building or work at the time of inspection. (R- <br />111.2) <br /> <br />Approved numbers or addresses shall be placed on all buildings in such a <br />position as to be plainly visible and legible from the street or road <br />fronting the property. (UFC 10.208) <br /> <br />The structural supports for decks, balconies, porches or similar <br />structures shall be pressure-treated wood to protect against decay. <br />(R-309.1) <br /> <br />Provide at least 1 square foot of uaderfloor ventilation for each 150 <br />square feet of crawl space area. The openings shall be covered with a <br />corrosion resistant wire mesh. At least one such opening shall be <br />provided within 3 feet of each corner of the building. (R-311.1) <br /> <br />Provide an access crawl hole to the underfloor space. The minimum size <br />opening required is 18 inches by 24 inches. (R-311.2) <br /> <br />A minimum 3-foot by 3-foot landing shall be required on each side of an <br />egress door. (R-212) <br /> <br />Porches, balconies or raised floor surfaces located more than 30 in. <br />above the floor or grade shall have guardrail not less than 36 inches in <br />height. Required guardrail shall have intermediate rails Or ornamental <br />closures which will not allow passage of an object 6 in. or more in <br />diameter. Horisontal spacing between the vertical members in required <br />guardrails shall be a maximum of 4 inches at the nearest point between <br />the members. (R-214.2) <br /> <br />Every sleeping room shall have at least one operable window approved for <br />emergency egres~ or rescue. The window sill height shall not be more <br />than 44 inches above the floor. The minimum net clear opening width <br />dimension shall be 20 inches. The minimum net opening height shall be <br />24 inches. The minimum net clear opening area shall be at least 5.7 <br />square feet.
