This review is not intended to prohibit the building <br />inspector from requesting an evaluation of the acceptability of existing <br />structural members that may appear to be unsafe. Existing construction <br />not specifically detailed in the submitted plans and structural <br />calculations is beyond the scope of this review. <br /> <br />A copy of approved plans when required by the building official shall be <br />kept on the site of the building or work at the time of inspection. (R- <br />111.2) <br /> <br />When the footing and stemwall are poured in two separate pours, a keyway <br />in the footing is an acceptable method of transferring lateral loads <br />(seismic or wind) from the stemwall into the footing, ~x as an <br />alternate, provide 1S inch long No. 3 dowels, extending 12 inches into <br />the wall from the footing, spaced at 4 feet on center. <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />When alterations repairs or additions are made to an e.~isting dwelling, <br />the entire building shall be provided with smoke detectors located as <br />required for new dwellings. (R-215.1) <br /> <br />Wood framed walls a minimum of two feet and less than four feet wide at <br />garage door openings shall be provided with approved hold-down anchors <br />at each end of each wall segment. The hold-downs shall connect the wall <br />studding to the concrete foundation. An alternate design which is <br />designed to resist an 80 mile per hour wind load may be submitted to <br />Marion County for review with details shown on the plans and design <br />calculations showing compliance with this requirement. <br /> <br />Any braced wall panel required by Section R-402.10 may be replaced by an <br />alternate braced wall panel constructed in accordance with the <br />following: <br /> <br />In one-story buildings, each panel shall have a length of not less <br />than 2 feet 8 inches. Each panel shall be sheathed on one face <br />with 3/8 inch minimum thickness plywood sheathing and blocked at <br />all plywood edges with nominal 2 inch material. Each panel end <br />stud shall be provided with a tie-down device capable of providing <br />an approved uplift capacity of not less than 1800 pounds. Two <br />anchor bolts shall be provided in each panel. Anchor bolts shall <br />be placed approximately at panel quarter points. The panels shall <br />be supported directly on a foundation or on floor framing <br />supported directly on a foundation or footing not less than 10 <br /> <br />"APPROVED" only when this sheet is attached to plans <br /> <br /> <br />
