Our proposed alternate method is to leave the roof off <br /> and build the skylight as currently proposed. We desire to formally make the case that the installation is more <br /> safe with the code path wood roof eliminated. <br /> it is a mental exercise but an important one. 1 am convinced that if we put a roof over the rest of the rec yard <br /> and create an installation that complies with the letter of the code that it is less safe than the current proposed <br /> configuration(shown in this submission as the "Alternate Method".) <br /> So,the attached diagrams are: <br /> 1. Code Path Method:Construct a wood roof structure over the remaining 1/3 of the recreation yard room <br /> (we would prefer not to do this). This would be allowed by the letter of the code, If we pursue this we <br /> would submit revised and engineered drawings for review. <br /> ( - Alternate Method: Eliminate the wood roof structure and end up with an installation that is, in our <br /> `r' opinion, more safe than the code path method. We have stated our reasons in the Alternate Method <br /> submittal. It is an alternate method which is reductionary and in our opinion, more safe. <br /> We are asking for approval of the Alternate Method as more safe and effective approach than what would be <br /> prescribed by the letter of the code. <br /> Kent R.
