ENG. This structure uses en Engineered Design to meet the <br /> lateral wail bracing requirements of the code. Insure that <br /> all detailed construction requirements shown mn the plans <br /> are ~ollowed. <br />12. TRUSS DESIGN. Roof trusses are required to be be designed by <br /> an Oregon registered Engineer or Architect. For trusses <br /> manufactured by an approved fabrication plant, have the <br /> design and layout drawings available at the construction <br /> site for the )taming inspection. All jobsite cuttin~ or <br /> modifications of the roof trusses shall be clearly shown in <br /> the e~gineer's design calculations and drawings. <br />13. THE GARAGE shall be separated from the dwelling and its <br /> attic area by means of 1/2 inch gypsum board applied to the <br /> garage side of the wall. Where the separation is a floor- <br /> ceiling assembly, the structure supporting the separation <br /> ~al[ be prgtecte~.by 1/2 inch.gypsuQ board or equivalent. <br /> ~ne odor De,ween the garage and residence shall be equipped <br /> with solid wood doors not less than I 3/S inches in thick- <br /> ness or 2B-Minute fire-rated, or equivalent. <br /> [Sec. 389.1. <br />14. EVERY SLEEPING ROOM shall have at least one openable window <br /> or exterior door approved for emergency eQress or rescue. <br /> The window sill height shall not be more ~han 44 inches <br /> ~bove the floor. The minimum net clear openin~ is 5.7 square <br /> ee~. The minimum net clear opening height s§all be 22 <br /> incheS. The Minimum net clear opening width shall be 2~ <br /> inches. WINDERS on stairways reqdire that the tread depth at a poin~ <br /> 12 inches from the narrower end of the tread is not less <br /> than ? inches and the minimum depth of any tread is not less <br /> than 6 inches. The continuous handrail required by Section <br /> 314.1 shall be located on the side where the tread is <br /> narrower. Handrails may be interrupted by a newel post at a <br /> turn. [Sec. 314.4~ Sec. 315.1] <br />16. HANDRAILS having a minimum and maximum height of 3~ inches <br /> and 38 inches, respectively, shall be provided on at least <br /> one side of stairways of More than three risers. Ali re- <br /> quired handrails shell be continuous the fulI lengt~ of the <br /> stairs. Ends shall be returned or sh~ll terminate in newel <br /> posts or safety terminals. Exception. Handrails may be <br /> interrupted by e newel @DSt at a turn, and the use of a <br /> volute turnout or starting easing shall be allowed over the <br /> lowest tread. [Sec. 315.1] <br />17. SMOKE DETECTORS shall be installed in each sleeping room, <br /> outside of each separate sleeping area in the immediate <br /> vicinity of the beUrooms and on each additional story of the <br /> dwelling including basements. All detectors shall be inter- <br /> connected such that the actuation of one alarm will actuate <br /> ail the alarms in the individual unit and shall provide an <br /> alarm which will be audible in eli sleeping areas. <br /> [Section 316.1] Smoke detectors shall be ~10 volt with <br /> ~attery back-up. [Sec. 316.2] <br />18. SMOKE ~ETECTOR / POWER. Required smoke detectors shall <br /> receive their primary power from the building wiring when <br /> such wiring is.served fro) Q co~Mf~ciel )ource, en~ when <br /> primary power <br /> battery.
