The sand filter unit <br />~re-treats the septic tank effluent before it is discharged <br />nto the ground. The drainfield following the sand filter <br />is installed at a very shallow depth and generally includes <br />a capping fill drainfield, See the attached "Sand Filter <br />System Requirements for Plans". Two sets of plans for the <br />system must be submitted at the time of application for the <br />installation permit, <br />A CAPPING FILL ORAINFIELO IS REO~JIREO in conjunction with <br />the septic system approval. See the attached "CAPPING FILL" <br />information sheet for instructions. <br />CAPPING FILL systems are installed in soils where a layer <br />that limits the effective soild depth or a water table is <br />present in the soil profile at a depth shallower than <br />allowed for a standard system, The drainfield is installed a <br />at a very shallow depth and fill is placed over the field to <br />~rovide the earth cover over the system. CAPPING FILL <br />YSTEMS MAY ONLY BE INSTALLED FROM JUNE 1 AND OCTOBER 1 or <br />during such times when Building Inspection staff f~nds so~l <br />moisture conditions acceptable. See the attached "CAPPING <br />FILL" information sheet for instructions, Fill material must <br />be evenly graded over the drainfield and crowned at the <br />center to shed rainfall, <br />THIS SYSTEM MUST BE INSPECTED AND APPROVED PRIOR TO BACKFILL <br />When work is complete and ready for inspection, call our <br />Automated Inspection Request line at 373-4427 to request an <br />inspection. Enter the numPer "801" for a PRE-COVER inspec- <br />tion. You may leave a message for the inspector if desired, <br />Be sure the System Record form w~th the As-Built drawing ~s <br />on the job or in our office when the inspection is requested <br />An inspection should be completed within seven (7) days. <br /> <br /> <br />
