Marion County

OREGON
· COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
DEPARTMENT

DIRECTOR
Craig O. Luedeman

BUILDING INSPECTION
(503} S88-S147

ENFORCEMENT

To:

Frank Schmidt
9500 SE 327th
Boring, OR. 97009

Dec. 24,1998

From: Zan Ewing

Re: Site #98-10640.

Dear Mr. Schmidt,

On December 18, 1998, I conducted an evaluation of test pits provided for the purpose of
obtaining septic system approval on your Ehlea Road property. The result of that
investigation shows that the winter water table conditions are more severe that is allowed
for standard septic system approval.

We noted that the application was to serve an agriculture related machine storage building
and the flow from this building will be minimal. In addition the size of the property is
approximately 25 acres and is in Exclusive Farm Use zone. The Department of
Environmental Quality provides the counties with a certain amount of flexibility on rural
sites such as yours to deviate from the minimum soil standards where justification can be
made that the rules are burdensome and impractical.

Attached is a request for consideration of your property under the "Rural Area
Consideration" roles. Please fill out those items highlighted and return it to our
department and we will process the application. The purpose of this form is to record
why the minimum standards of the D.E.Q. rules were relaxed.

I hope this is not too much of an inconvenience but this process will save money from the
sand filter treatment system which would otherwise be required.

Give me a call if you would like to discuss this or if you have any questions on t~is matter.

Community Development Center - 3150 Lancaster Dr NE, Suite C - Salem, Oregon 97305-1398
