STAIRWAY CONSTRUCTION, <br /> <br /> PERMIT NO 99-03594 <br /> STATUS ISSUED <br /> ISSUED 02/23/2000 <br /> TO EXPIRE 08/21/2000 <br /> PAGE 3 <br /> <br />(OSSC Sec 603.4) <br /> <br /> Stairways in Type II-N buildings shall be of noncombustible <br /> construction. <br /> Stairways shall comply with the requirements of Chapter 10, <br /> <br />12. EMERGENCY ESCAPES, (OSSC Sec 210.4i <br /> Escape or rescue windows shall have a minimum net clear <br /> openable area of 5,7 square feet. <br /> The minimum net clear openable height dimension shall be <br /> 22 inches, <br /> The minimum net clear openable width dimension shall be <br /> 20 inches. <br /> When. windows are provided as a means of egress or rescue, <br /> they shall have a finished sill height not more than <br /> 44 inches above the floor. <br /> <br />13. SMOKE DETECTORS, (OSSC Sec 310,9,1i <br /> Dwelling units that are used for sleeping purposes shall be <br /> provided with smoke detectors. <br /> Detectors shall be installed in accordance with the approved <br /> manufacturer's instructions. <br /> <br />14. SMOKE DETECTOR POWER SOURCE. (OSSC Sec 210.9.1,3i <br /> Required smoke detectors shall receive their primary power <br /> from the building wiring when such wiring is served from a <br /> commercial source and shall be equipped with a battery <br /> backup. The dector shall emit a signal when the batteries <br /> are low, Wiring shall be permanent and without a disconnect <br /> ing switch other than those required for overcurrent <br /> protection, Smoke detectors may be solely battery operated <br /> when installed in existing buildings; or in buildings with <br /> out commercial power: or in buildings which undergo <br /> alterations, repairs or additions regulated by Sec 310,9.1.2 <br /> <br />15, SMOKE DETECTOR LOCATION. (OSSC Sec 310.9.1.4i <br /> A smoke detector shall be installed in each sleeping room <br /> and at a point centrally located in the corridor or area <br /> giving access to each separate sleeping area, When a dwell- <br /> ing unit has more than one story, a detector shall be <br /> installed on each story. When sleeping rooms are on the <br /> upper level, the detector shall be placed at the ceiling of <br /> the upper level in close proximity to the stairway, <br /> Detectors shall sound an alarm audible in all sleeping areas <br /> of the dwelling unit in which they are located. <br /> <br />16. WALLS MEMBP~ANE PENETRATIONS. (OSSC Sec 709.7i <br /> Membrane penetrations of the fire-resistive walls shall <br /> comply with Section 709.6. See Exceptions. <br /> <br /> CEILING MEMBRANE PENETRATIONS. (OSSC Sec 710.3i <br /> Penetrations of membranes that are part of a fire-resistive <br /> horizontal assembly shall comply with Section 710,2. <br /> See Exceptions. <br /> <br />17. STAIRWAY WIDTH. (OSSC Sec 1003.3.3.2i <br /> The width of stairways shall be determined as specified in <br /> Section 1003.2,3, but such width shall not be less than 44 <br /> inches, except as specified herein and in Chapter 11. <br /> Stairways serving an occupant load less than 50 shall not be <br /> less than 36 inches. <br /> Handrails may project into the required width a distance of <br /> 3-1/2 inches from each side of a stairway. <br />18, LIGHT & VENTILATION. <br /> Habitable Rooms. All habitable rooms shall be provided with <br /> aggregate glazing area of not less than 10 percent of the <br /> floor area of such rooms, <br /> One-half of the required area of glazing shall be openable, <br /> <br />19.
