Decem her 27, 1999

Attn: Jason Cane
Marion County Fire Marshall
4760 Portland Road NE
Salem, OR 97305--1760
FAX: 503-373-1825

RE:

North Marion School District Campus
Fire Suppression System

Dear Mr. Cane,

[] DLR Group

Architecture and Planning
421 SW Sixth Avenue
Suite 1212
Portland, OR 97204-1613

tel 503/274-2675
fax 503/274-O313
portland ~dlrgroup.com

FILE

This is to re-cap our conversation that we had earlier with the Marion County Building Department
about your expectations for the system that we are proposing at North Marion School District. To re-
iterate, the components of the system will be as follows:

· Seven (7) fire hydrants placed approximately 500' apart along the new fire access road and on
Grim Road between the existing middle and intermediate schools
· A 12' ductile iron pipe supplying the hydrants
· A 360,000 gallon above ground water tank
,, A pump capable of delivering 1500 gpm
· The District's existing well and pump hard piped to the tank to replenish the water supply with a
float to detect a drop in the water level
· A single draft pipe located at the pump house

We will complete the system by the end of January, 2000 in order to allow continued progress on
the construction projects currently underway. Please note that we have also complied with the local
fire department requirements ~s follows:

· Installation of fire extinguishers in all work areas at the same distances as indicated for the final
building.
Construction of wall panels at off site locations to minimize on site debris
· Daily clean up activities and regular dumping of construction debris containers
· Rental of a 21,000 gallon temporary water tank and placement between the two primary
construction areas.

We appreciate the fire department's and County's continued patience while we battle delivery
schedules, wet ground conditions, and, at times, adverse weather conditions. We will continue to
make the installation of this system our primary focus.

Sincerely,
DLR Group

Scott M.
