problems. Additionally, it is my understanding that some O and M materials are still outstanding.
If this is the case, these items should be addressed immediately.
Item #5: Streetscape Medallions - The streetscape medallions were poorly installed and ~'~ ~'~`'
' U:C"r~ c;A~ ~ G~C,',•ti~~
the owners and the architect have asked Pence/Keily to resolve the condition either by the Q~ i~(~,cu,~ -C.~' A'~ ~
complete removal (of some or all) of the medallions or by fixing the various medallions' -~
deficiencies. Some repairs have been made, but in the interest of closing out the project, P/I~, ~~+~C '
should aggressively seek a resolution to this matter.
Item #6: Infrared Sink Sensors - The sink sensors have been turning faucets on ~~~~~-'
~ l ~1f, iti
sporadically since their initial installation. Literally, all signs in and around the building (~~
have been installed weeks later than anticipated, and the quality has been marginal. It is my ~~`C~ (1 "`'~ ~`
.~j° ~~~ _
understanding that most of the signage has now been installed. It is partially because of the ~ X
signage subcontractor's project history that I would encourage Pence Kelly to correct or replace U
the commemorative project plaque in the building lobby. The owners strongly feel that the
proposal request adequately detailed the finish desired on the plaque. It is my opinion that it was .~~r~"~-'d
a lack of product/process knowledge that resulted in an unreadable plaque. The owners approved~ ~
, , ~, ~Zt~
additional funds to ensure a quality plaque and in turn, received a substandard and disappointing
work product.
By assigning a superintendent to the project in late November, Pence Kelly has demonstrated a
genuine desire to bring closure to the numerous outstanding project issues. The updated punch
list indicates that most construction related repairs are being completed. It is my hope that this
status letter will help the remaining team members focus on the resolution of ongoing issues and
help expedite the release of a majority of the remaining project retainage.
~ ,
Craig R. ewis
Project Manager
CC: David Hartwig - Marion County
Bob McCune - Marion County
John Whittington - Salem Area Transit
Jeff Hamm - Salem Area Transit
4 -- ---- r
L ~ i :. _ , ~ -___. .
!JAN 1 ~ Zu~l
..-, ~--
~11,~~",!C' ~ .. -. ~
,~~' !~ F; , . .: . . . ._ ~. i
