`~ ~~-
From: Billy Wasson
To: pmilne, rfranke, mryan
- Date: 3/30/99 1:54pm
Subject: Project update
Last night the contractor began the work in the street at the Chemeketa and
Church St. intersection. They ran into a delay because they found a natural
gas line that was in the space where the new manhole cover is positioned on
the drawings.
They have mapped out an alternative solution and given that to the City of
Salem for their approval. This is par for the course in that the as built
drawings on what is in the street and its exact location is never exact.
Other than that it is going well. We have had good feedback from the SAT
staffer who has gone door to door with the busninesses, the community is ready
to see the improvements get underway.
Today we will pick, from RFP responses, a testing agency to do all the testing
throughout the life of the project. There were two bidders, Carlson and
Braughn. Once we have the testing agency under contract then the building
permit will be issued by the City (I think this is the last issue outstanding
on the buildinq permit!).
Invitation for forum by both Boards is done and will go out in prep for next
weeks meeting. Al1 for now. Thanks.
CC: jdavis, dhartwig, bwasson, rcurtis
